Injury gets to the best of us
It is with regret that I, Jon Love will be no longer running in the London Marathon 2011, due to injury.
It is frustrating and upsetting but I have been forced by knee problems and running the marathon will be just too much.
I continue to support the cause and will along with you support Aron Lucas run the marathon on April 17th.
I am continuing to look to raise funds and assist in hitting the target we set.
Sparkle Appeal Stage Show
Jill Love, parent to Greg’s Love, a pupil of Victoria Education College is a member of the Broadway Electric Group.
Every year they put on a number of stage shows to raise money for good causes and this year, they will be putting one on for the Sparkle Appeal.
To be held on Friday 25th March the show is a Risqué show with Adult only content.
All ammeters, the group put on a good performance that the audience can get involved with. A little rough edged, the show is all the more enjoyable for it.
A few rude jokes and sexually oriented sketches, it is not everyone’s cup of tea, but for just £10 you can get a ticket and a ploughman’s supper is included.
ALL proceeds go to the Sparkle Appeal and it is hoped that over £1000 will be raised.

Pub Quiz–Again!
After the success of the last two, on Friday 6th May, we will be holding another quiz night, with the intention to raise even more money. for the Sparkle Appeal.
It will ve held at the Brunswick Pub again in Charminster from about 7.30!
We have learnt from the last and hope to improve the amount we raise as well as attracting more people.

Horse Racing with a difference
We will in May (exact date TBC) be holding a horse racing event with a difference. If you like horse racing, like a little flutter and want to make a difference to a charity campaign then watch this space, this is for you. Guaranteed to be good fun you can bet in a number of races and maybe even come away with more money in your pocket than you came with!

Aron and Jon run the London Marathon
Last year Aron Lucas ran the marathon raising over £2000 for Victoria Education College. A year on he will be doing it again, this time with good friend Jon Love, the cousin to Greg Love who is a pupil of Victoria and will benefit from the new facilities.
On 17th April 2011, the 26 miles will be run by the pair. Training has already begun as well as a fundraising page having been set up.

Quiz 2 – The Results
On Saturday 16th October , we held a quiz night at the Brunswick Pub at Charminster in aid of the Sparkle Appeal.
As before, this second quiz was a fun evening for all and with a good turn out. Jens (Husband of Clove Technology employee Lorraine) did once again a brilliant job of composing and asking the questions!
There was a raffle, prizes for the winners and the looser’s as well as other spot prizes. All told we raised over £400 to go towards the appeal. Thanks to everyone!
Pub Quiz – Saturday 16th October
After the success of the last pub quiz – another is being held this coming weekend, Saturday 16th October.
The quiz will be held at the same venue as before, which was the Brunswick Hotel (199 Malmesbury Park Road, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH8 8PX,01202 290 197).
The event will take no longer than 3 hours and will include the quiz, and a raffle with prizes up for grabs.
Entry is £5 per person and we are looking for teams of 4 people. Of course all funds raised will be going to the Sparkle Appeal.

Unlimited Bowling…
VEC as part of the campaign to raise money for the Sparkle Appeal have teamed up with Bowlplex at Branksome Poole. to bring an evening og unlimited bowling for just £10.
Bowlplex is hosting a fundraising evening for the Sparkle Appeal on THURSDAY 8 JULY from 7PM.
For only (£10 per person) you can enjoy and evening packed full of fun and entertainment.

Quiz Update – The Results are in!
On Friday 30th April, we held a quiz night at the Brunswick Pub at Charminster in aid of Sparkle.
This turned out to be a fun evening for all and a good turn out – 12 teams of 4-5. Jens (Husband of Clove Technology employee Lorraine) did a brilliant job of composing and asking the questions, albeit hard for most of us non-regular quiz goers!
The most important thing though was that we raised £431 thanks to the generosity of everyone that took part and I am sure we will repeat the evening later in the year. If you would like to take part, please let us know!
